Read the directions below to learn how to download the free sample designs and to get other helpful information.

You will need a user name and password to download the designs.

The user name and password is in the Embroidery Billboard mailing you get each day.

Look near the bottom for the username and password.

The site works best in Internet Explorer. For AOL hints keep reading below. You won't see the pop up box that asks for the password until you actually CLICK ON THE FORMAT located in the description to the right of the image of the free design.

If you cannot get to the free design site at all you may have your internet settings so high that it doesn't allow you to download. Also some pop up blockers may stop the password box from appearing.

First make sure you are using Internet Explorer as your internet browser. Most people even AOL users have Internet Explorer as a browser option. If you are on AOL disable your pop up blocker. FOR AOL PEOPLE--Click on the bottom of the web page where it says "blocking pop ups".

When you click on that box there is an option to allow pop ups from Embroidery Billboard. Click on that and the password box will open for you when you click on a format to download a design.

On the free design web page click a category on the left. You can find designs sorted by subject or designs sorted by each vendor's billboarde. Click the category called Billboards by Designer.

Now a list of all the vendors who advertise and have free designs (and things for sale too) are listed under the middle paragraph in the center of the page.

Scroll down to see the ENTIRE LIST of all the digitizers and vendors who advertise and donate designs for Embroidery Billboard. The list is long. Scroll way down to see the entire list. The web pages that have dates next to the name of the site are at the top. Those are the pages with the designs that were donated most recently.

Now click the name of one of the web sites. (try the top one first).

There are thumbnail images of all the free designs (and there may be things to buy also) for that billboard vendor.

Now click the image of one of the designs. A new page comes up with a bigger image of the free design. Read the description to the RIGHT of the design image.

Click the embroidery machine format located IN the description to the right of the image.

If there is no machine format to click on in the description that means that is NOT a free item but instead it is something that is for sale. Let's assume you did find a free item though. You can tell it is free to download because there are formats to click on in the description that is on the right side of the image.

DO NOT click the picture. Click a format in the description.

When you click a format in the description a pop up box comes up. Type in the user name (found in each day's billboard mailing) in the top box. NEVER EVER COPY AND PASTE IT and do not check the box that says to remember it.

Type in the password in the bottom box. Do not copy and paste--do not use spaces--do not use capitals

The password and user name is in TODAY'S BILLBOARD MAILING. Read the mailing every day. The password changes often and is located near the bottom of the mailing. You may need to wait for tomorrow's mailing if you by chance end up visiting the site soon after I changed the password. I can't control when you see the mailing so this might happen once in a while. The password won't change EVERY DAY so if it doesn't work today it WILL work tomorrow.

Now the download box will show up and you can download the design to your computer. If the download box DOES NOT show up your pop up blocker or internet settings may be preventing you from seeing the box. You need to disable these settings for the Password Pop up box to show.

You now should be able to download any design you want now without entering this information again during this visit. When you visit again you will need to enter the password again. DO NOT Click the REMEMBER MY PASSWORD option because the password will change often.

Scroll Way down.It is a long list. There are designs scattered all over. When traffic is high on the site you will be limited as to how many designs can be downloaded at one time.You may need to leave and return to Embroidery Billboard at a later time when traffic is lower.

Please note that some of the digitizers do NOT have free designs but have other things that you might be interested in. You will be able to use this site to find thread, stabilizer and more! For instance look at Wendy's Treasures.She has a link to Window Pane Shirts.

Every week day designs are added. All designs have a date with them. Some of the dates are recent and some are old. If a design has a date in 2004 or 2003 or 2002 that means it was donated a long time ago. They are being put up at the new site anyway because new members keep joining.

If you have been a member a long time you may already have some of these designs that have the older date.Look at the date to determine when each design was first made available.

Please take some time to look around the new site to find embroidery products.You will have to click the links in the descriptions to be taken to OTHER embroidery sites where you can find embroidery supplies to purchase and of course MORE FREE SAMPLE designs.
